Helicopter Ball Drop - To Benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals
We are excited to share with you that this year marks the 20th year that Costco has been hosting the Golf Classic to benefit five Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
This year’s Golf Classic will take place on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Cota de Caza Golf Club along with the famous Helicopter Ball Drop event that has a Grand Prize of $25,000. The cost of each golf ball is $20.00 or 6 balls for $100.00.
What is a Ball Drop and How Does it Work?
Prior to the event, Grand Prize Promotions (GPP) is the company that has been selected to validate the winner and GPP will randomly select (1) ball from the number range of sold balls prior to the event. GPP will have this winning golf ball number placed in a security-sealed envelope and will only be opened when instructed by GPP after the balls have been dropped.
At the event, golf balls will be dropped from a helicopter over a golf hole. The golf balls that land closest to the target area are awarded prizes based on their proximity to the hole. The first “predetermined” number of golf balls as indicated in the proposal, (that land closest to or in the target area), are the contest finalists. A finalist is a Promotion Prize Winner if the number on the finalist’s golf ball exactly matches the winning number as selected by the GPP.
If the finalist’s number matches the winning number, Costco will be advised that there is a winner. If the finalist’s number does not match the pre-selected winning number (that is in the security-sealed envelope) there is no winner for the Grand Prize. In the event of a tie or if we are unable to determine the golf ball closest to the hole, Costco may use a coin toss or another suitable method to determine the Grand Prize Winner.
Costco will have additional prizes for the following:
- 1st Closest/in Hole $2,500
- 2nd Closest/In Hole $1,000
- 3rd Closest/In Hole $500
