Holiday Party Recipe - Cashew Cheese Dip

Cashew Cheese Dip

With the holiday season approaching, try making a cashew cheese dip for your next party, which doesn't have sugar or dairy elements. This recipe was provided by Stacey Bailey, a registered dietician with Cottage Health.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 cup raw cashews, soaked in water overnight (8 hours)
  • 3 tbl. roasted red pepper hummus spread
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. pepper
  • 3 tbl. cornstarch
  • 2 tbl. onion powder
  • 3 cups water

Instructions

  1. Drain and rinse cashews.
  2. Put all ingredients into a high powered blender and puree until very smooth.
  3. Place all ingredients into a saucepan over medium heat. Cook until thickened, making sure to whisk frequently once starting to thicken to prevent sticking on bottom of pan.
