Community Health Needs Assessment Will Call On Residents for Input
Findings will help identify population health concerns in Santa Barbara County
Cottage Health and community partners are collaborating to improve the well-being of Santa Barbara County residents. To better understand the needs and strengths of the entire community, and the many diverse groups within it, the collaborative is asking residents who receive the survey phone call to participate in a Community Health Needs Assessment.
The assessment will include 2,500 telephone surveys, with calls to randomly selected cell and landlines. All responses will be confidential, and information collected will not be connected to names or phone numbers. These calls will begin across Santa Barbara County the week of July 15 and take place through September.
In addition, later this summer the collaborative will gather feedback during a listening tour to hear from individuals and organizations regarding health-related needs in the community. The listening tour will include online surveys, group discussions, phone interviews, and visits to various community-based organizations.
The Community Health Needs Assessment collaborative includes the following partners:
- Cottage Health
- Lompoc Valley Medical Center
- Planned Parenthood California Central Coast
- Santa Barbara County Public Health Department
- Santa Barbara Foundation
- Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics
- University of California, Santa Barbara
Findings will help Cottage Health and community partners recognize the scope of population health concerns.
Results will be available by the end of the year at cottagehealth.org/pophealth. As a nonprofit organization, Cottage Health is required by California and federal laws to conduct a health needs assessment every three years; the last survey was completed in 2016.
