Benefits of Working at PDL
Many of our leaders moved from the bench to supervisor to manager to director. In our Pathology Department, laboratory assistants have been promoted to grossing technician to histotechnologist and earned their national certification as PDL employees.
Opportunities to Increase Technical Expertise
Through PDL’s Clinical Laboratory Scientist Training Program, students work alongside our experienced CLS team members, and they bring their inquisitive minds and questions with them throughout their educational journey. We foster an environment in which our team members stay on top of the latest in technologies and science.
Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital is the largest private teaching hospital on the California coast between Los Angeles and the Bay Area. As part of Cottage Health, PDL team members benefit from the diverse, inquisitive, inclusive, collaborate and reflective community we serve.
Collegial Work Environment
Our employee surveys confirm that our employees enjoy working with their colleagues.
Engagement With our Pathologists
A key difference at PDL with other labs is that our pathologists work in our labs alongside our staff. They view each team member as integral to PDL’s overall success.
All of our pathologists are board-certified in anatomic pathology and fellowship trained in subspecialties including gyn/breast, hematopathology, dermatopathology, cytopathology and molecular pathology. Our pathology Laboratory Directors are actively engaged with the PDL staff and committed to fostering an environment in which quality goals are achieved and laboratory services are enhanced.
