The HeartSaver AED Adult is based on American Heart Association guidelines for the lay public and covers CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and choking first aid for adults and children over the age of 8 years. This course is appropriate for non-professional caregivers, teachers, and any lay person who wants to learn these skills. Participants will receive a course completion card. This class includes the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the links in the AHA "Chain of Survival," including the importance of dialing 9-1-1
- Describe and demonstrate the steps of CPR and relief of FBAO
- Describe and demonstrate the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
