CPR for Family and Friends: Infant / Child is based on American Heart Association guidelines for the lay public and covers CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and choking first aid for infants and children up to the age of 8. This course is appropriate for parents, babysitters, and anyone else who spends time with children and wants to learn these skills.
The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.
CPR for Family and Friends course objectives:
This course is designed for parents, babysitters and friends who do not require “certification” for employment.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Discuss causes and prevention of injury and cardiopulmonary arrest in children
- Demonstrate how to administer CPR and first aid for choking infants and children
