Pre-Operative Joint Replacement Classes
The Pre-Operative Joint Replacement Class is highly useful in preparing patients about what to expect before, during and after surgery.
Classes are taught monthly at both Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital and Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and patients can take the class at either facility regardless of where their surgery is performed.
We encourage, but do not require the class for patients who have undergone total knee or hip replacement in the previous one year. If your surgery was more than one year prior, you are required to attend again.
Taught by physical therapists and nurses who work for The Joint Replacement Program at the Cottage Center for Orthopedics.
Who Should Attend This Class?
Those considering or are scheduled for knee or hip replacement surgery.
Participants are given a Pre-Operative patient guide outlining the joint replacement process at the Cottage Center for Orthopedics.
What Participants Should Expect to Learn
- Steps involved in preparing for a successful joint replacement
- What to expect while in the hospital
- How to safely prepare the home for the recovery period
- What to expect during the recovery period after hospitalization
- And much more
The Joint Replacement Guide in English or Spanish is available online at cottagehealth.org/ortho.
