How You Can Help Support the Cottage Emergency Response Fund

Your gift directly supports immediate efforts to care for patients and protect healthcare teams across Cottage Health. Thank You for partnering with us to respond to this evolving pandemic and ensure we can provide the highest level of care to our communities in the weeks and months ahead.

The Tele-Stroke Program at Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital

Using state-of-the-art telemedicine technology, stroke patients can now get faster and improved care. Tele-Stroke medicine immediately connects stroke patients and emergency department physicians with board-certified neurologists through two-way audio-visual technology. This protocol includes the ability to administer tPA (clot-dissolving medication) when indicated. Because Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital’s Comprehensive Stroke Center is 30 miles away, this program is providing critical care sooner, thus saving lives and ensuring the best possible outcomes for Valley residents.

The hospital has seen a continued increase in stroke patients with “stroke protocol” activated 122 times in 2019. Of those activations, 25 patients were diagnosed with a stroke and nine were diagnosed with a TIA (small stroke event). The program continues to be a great success by saving lives! The program is also benefitting patients with other neurologic conditions including; seizure, intracranial or traumatic hemorrhage, sudden-onset headache, concussion, dizziness and syncope.

At a cost of $300,000 per year, philanthropic support of the Tele-Stroke Program is essential for its continued success! SYVCH Foundation is committed to funding this important program for our community.

Please give generously to the Tele-Stroke Program. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
