Reach Higher Together

The gift of good health is priceless. Please join Cottage Health as we keep our community healthy through high-priority programs like these, and learn how to contribute to our efforts.

Santa Barbara Neuroscience Institute

When blood flow to the brain is threatened, it is critical to recognize and treat the problem quickly. Santa Barbara Neuroscience Institute provides the people of the Central Coast with an expert team of doctors and nurses ready to treat life-threatening conditions such as stroke and brain aneurysm.

The institute also treats other dangers to the brain, spinal cord, back and nervous system. We have recruited some of the nation’s top doctors to operate on brain and spinal tumors. And we are the first in California to have an intraoperative MRI.

The iMRI is a powerful magnetic resonance imaging tool that helps surgeons distinguish healthy tissue from diseased tissue. Your gifts to Cottage Health help us secure state-of-the-art tools like the iMRI, which is a $14 million investment for Cottage Health.

Graduate Medical Education

Cottage Health is a teaching organization that recruits resident doctors from the world’s best medical schools. We have created a dynamic setting in which our medical faculty and attending physicians share what they have learned with the next generation of specialists and surgeons.

We're the only community hospital between Los Angeles and San Francisco to offer this type of graduate medical education. We also offer the largest healthcare library along the Central Coast. Our community benefits as we attract the brightest minds to our area. Not surprisingly, many residents carry on their careers here after they finish their training.

When you give to Cottage Health, you help us keep the best medical teachers and students here, now and in the future.

Nurse Training & Education

Our talented teams of nurses deliver top-quality care to patients with great devotion. They are routinely recognized at state and national levels for their work.

Keeping a skilled work force of nurses is an ongoing priority for Cottage Health. And to help make that happen, we partner with California State University Channel Islands to offer a bachelor of science in nursing program.
Based in the Santa Barbara area, the CSU Channel Islands Nursing Program at Cottage Health is just one of the steps we are taking to meet the growing need for nurses and prepare for shortages that might occur in years to come. Your gift to Cottage Health can help us make sure we are ready.

Emergency Services / Trauma

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital is verified as a Level I Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons and Santa Barbara County Emergency Medical Services Agency. That means a finely tuned network of response teams is always ready to treat the most critical emergencies in our region.
Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Trauma Center is the only comprehensive trauma center on the Central Coast between Ventura and San Jose. And as a research facility, we make important contributions to the field of emergency and trauma medicine.

When every second counts, your gift helps us guarantee the life-saving equipment and care that our patients need.

The Legacy of an Endowment Gift

Keeping a strong endowment at Cottage Health is vital to ensure world-class health care services for residents of California’s Central Coast.

Our general endowment earns ongoing returns on investments, giving us the flexibility to direct resources where they can impact our patients, families and communities the most. It helps us pay for dynamic technology and training for talented professionals. It’s also there for us when we face urgent, unexpected needs and lean economic times.

Because we invest responsibly, each legacy gift added to a Cottage endowment generates health care dividends for untold generations.

Take part in Cottage’s general endowment, or create a named endowment. Gifts to the general endowment may be in any amount, starting at $25,000 or more, while named endowments, which can be directed to a set purpose, start at $1 million.
