Welcome to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital
Our program offers a diverse, collegial, and friendly work environment at Cottage Hospital, a Level I adult trauma center, tertiary referral center, and comprehensive stroke center. Residents also train at Sansum Outpatient Clinic and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles to create a well rounded training experience among different patient populations.
The high volume of studies, small residency program, and absence of fellows offers a truly unique training experience. This includes early experience in all modalities and subspecialties of radiology beginning the first year of training! Because residents are at the forefront of training at Cottage Hospital, they have the ability to read complex studies and gain extensive hands on procedure experience typically reserved for fellows. Residents also work closely with other departments such as presenting at various tumor boards and participating in a consult service to assist rounding internal medicine teams. Another unique aspect of our program is the flexibility provided to our residents. Trainees have the freedom to focus their education throughout training based on areas of interest or simply to enhance their experience and skills in various subspecialty areas.
In addition to exceptional training, our residents get to train at Cottage Hospital, recently named one of Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals and one of Fortune’s Top 20 Best Places to Work in Healthcare! Our residents receive generous benefits including meal and book stipends, conference reimbursement, and wellness incentives.
All of this is within the incredible city of Santa Barbara, one of the most beautiful and vibrant cities in the world, often designated as the “American Riviera.” Because work-life balance is an important part of the residency, residents can enjoy all Santa Barbara has to offer while bonding over social gatherings, resident retreats, journals clubs, and more. However, the best part of Cottage Radiology are the amazing people we work with daily and the wonderful community we serve!
We appreciate your interest in our program and look forward to reviewing your application!
