Hospital Research Initiatives
Nursing Research Consortium
The Cottage Health Nursing Research Consortium is a committee that is comprised of Cottage Health nursing professionals and educators from local colleges and universities who work collaboratively to promote and support the advancement of nursing research. The Nursing Consortium works in partnership with the CHRI research team to develop research studies through a year-long Nurse Research Training Program.
The Nurse Research Training Program aims to promote and support the advancement of nursing research through:
- building collective knowledge around nursing research
- developing skills and capacity to conduct high-quality research in the hospital and community
- exploring strategies to engage in the research process
As part of the Nurse Training Program, nurse researchers are paired with experienced nurse mentors to help facilitate a successful training experience. During the program, nurse researchers create posters of their studies and present each poster at Cottage Health’s Annual Magnet Quality Celebration. The Cottage Health Magnet Quality Celebration provides an opportunity for nurse researchers to share their studies and results with Cottage Health clinicians and staff.

Residents Research
Cottage Health is home to five residency programs: Diagnostic Radiology, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Pharmacy. Residents interested in research are supported through their Program Directors, Faculty, Sage Medical Library, Research Scientists, and the Cottage Health Research Institute. While conducting research is not a mandatory part of residency education, many residents choose to engage in original research projects and present at local, regional and national conferences and publish findings in medical journals.
