Dr. Marc Zerey - Medical Director
Dr. Marc Zerey is a board-certified weight-loss specialist at Sansum Clinic, specializing in weight-loss surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgical techniques. He is certified with the American Board of Surgery and the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.
He has published extensively in numerous medical journals, has co-authored chapters in two medical texts, and is a frequent lecturer on weight-loss surgery and other surgical topics.

Farida Bounoua, MD
Dr. Farida Bounoua, a board-certified general surgeon, completed her fellowship in bariatric and minimally invasive general surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The first female bariatric surgeon in Santa Barbara, she is a member of the American Society of Metabolic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
She has published in many medical journals, and in 2001 she received the Merck Young Investigator Award for her outstanding contribution to research on insulin-induced growth in smooth-muscle vascular cells.

David Thoman, MD
Before his arrival in 2004, Dr. David Thoman was director of minimally invasive surgery and the medical director of bariatrics at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, the world’s largest military hospital.
A board-certified specialist, Dr. Thoman was trained at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He also completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
