Cottage Physical Medicine Clinic offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment for neurologic, musculoskeletal and functional conditions.

Spasticity Evaluation & Treatment

We evaluate and treat spasticity and abnormal muscle tone associated with neurologic conditions. When appropriate, treatment may include chemodenervation with botulinum toxin injections to target specific muscles and improve comfort, movement and function.

Musculoskeletal & Joint Evaluation

Our clinic evaluates pain and dysfunction involving joints, muscles, tendons and other soft tissues. Diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound may be used when clinically appropriate to help assess musculoskeletal conditions.

Ultrasound-Guided & Office-Based Procedures

Depending on the diagnosis and individual treatment needs, procedures may include:

  • Ultrasound-guided joint injections
  • Trigger point injections
  • Other targeted musculoskeletal injections
  • Prolotherapy when clinically appropriate
  • Gait, Biomechanical & Structural Assessment

We evaluate walking, balance, movement patterns and biomechanics to identify factors that may contribute to pain, weakness, mobility limitations or difficulty performing everyday activities.

Rehabilitation & Therapy Planning

When appropriate, we evaluate and coordinate referrals for:

  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Speech therapy
  • Other specialized rehabilitation services

Braces, Orthotics, Prosthetics & Adaptive Equipment

  • Muscle weakness
  • Muscle tightness or spasms
  • Spasticity
  • Pain or stiffness
  • Reduced range of motion
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Difficulty walking
  • Balance problems
  • Impaired coordination
  • Fatigue

A Function-Focused Approach to Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, also known as physiatry, takes a whole-person approach to restoring and maintaining function.

Our care is individualized, collaborative and focused on your goals. We consider how a neurologic or musculoskeletal condition affects mobility, self-care, work, recreation and independence, then develop a treatment plan around those priorities.

Treatment may combine:

  • Medical management
  • Targeted injections and other procedures
  • Rehabilitation planning
  • Physical, occupational or speech therapy
  • Orthotics and prosthetics
  • Adaptive equipment
  • Wheelchair and mobility solutions
  • Coordination with other medical specialists

When appropriate, we collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, orthotists and prosthetists, mobility-equipment specialists, neuropsychologists, primary care providers and other medical or surgical specialists.

The goal is not simply to treat a diagnosis. It is to help each patient improve function, reduce barriers to participation and achieve greater safety, comfort and independence.
